It can be overwhelming to try to keep up with all of the various online networking and socializing opportunities. Digsby claims to consolidate your online chats across chat, email, and social networks, but it fell short of our expectations.

You can add as many accounts as you like to Digsby once you’ve loaded the program. Included are a wide variety of instant messaging platforms such as AIM, MSN, Yahoo!, Google Talk, ICQ, Gmail, Yahoo! Mail, Hotmail, Facebook, MySpace, and more. The many available services are presented in a clean, straightforward interface that is navigated using tabs. Without even opening the window, you can check your inbox, chat with friends, and more all through instant messaging. Except for Facebook, which would not stop showing the “Connecting…” notice even while the widget was active on my page.
