Windows 11 / Windows 10 / Windows 8 / Windows 7
Developed by David Xanatos at no cost to the user, WuMgr Download For Windows (Update Manager for Windows) is a suite of useful programs and utilities. This free program makes it possible to control and update Microsoft Windows software. For optimal performance on Windows machines, it makes use of the Windows Update Agent API.
Windows 10, with its emphasis on the OS functioning as a service, altered the rules for installing OS updates and upgrades, and annoyed many users in the process. In fact, with very few exceptions, the OS will automatically install updates whenever Microsoft deems it necessary.
Security is a major priority for Windows 10, and rightfully so. It’s primary function is to maintain a secure and up-to-date system, therefore updates will continue to be released often.
WuMgr can “manually” (that is, without the use of wuauserv or the windows agent API) download detected updates to disk, and it can automatically download wsusscn2.cab for “offline” search for updates (such as when wuauserv is blocked in the firewall) (useful when windows updates access to Microsoft servers is blocked). As described in Microsoft’s “Windows Restricted Traffic Limited Functionality Baseline,” this feature can prevent Windows updates from installing automatically on Windows 10 Pro and Windows 10 Home editions by setting the WSUS servers to ” ” When automatic updates are turned off, the Windows update page is also hidden from the settings app.
As stated by the creator, the app’s purpose is to give you the same level of update management power that you had in Windows 8.1 and Windows 7. As you can now see what has been installed, what has been hidden, and what is still waiting, you may decide what to do at your own pace.
