One open-source program called LinearMouse Download for windows is working to change that. Disabling acceleration for mouse movements and scrolling does not remove the ability to adjust acceleration; instead, it enables the use of side buttons, switches the direction of scrolling, and allows you to tie certain settings to modifier keys.

LinearMouse allows you to switch the scrolling direction of your mouse if you find the default one uncomfortable.Since the trackpad’s scrolling direction can be set individually, there’s no need to worry about any disruption to your work.

With LinearMouse, everything is easy. You can turn off acceleration while still being able to adjust the sensitivity. Optionally, you can rely solely on your device’s native D PI settings by turning off acceleration and sensitivity modifications entirely.
